Gosling reteams with LARS director for THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB
Variety report that Ryan Gosling and Lars and the Real Girl director Craig Gillespie are to work together again for The Dallas Buyers Club, a Universal and Strike Entertainment factual drama which has recently become a high priority for the studio's.
"Dallas Buyers Club" is the true story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients. Woodroof died in 1992.Chase Palmer, the writer/director of the upcoming Hitchcock biographical drama The Number 13 is currently polishing the script. Originally the project was setup by the same producers over at Universal in 2002 for director Marc Forster and star Brad Pitt but Pitt's a busy actor and it never got made. Project sounds like some great dramatic material to work with here... could be the next Into the Wild with a sweeping true story of an man's epic journey but instead of it with being with nature, it's in his battle to survive. Should be a tearjerker and I could say more but I will let the producers finish off this post with an informative quote...
"Ron was this hard-drinking, carousing outlaw who got ticked off when told to go home and die," Bushell said. "This is about one man's enduring spirit to live and the effect his actions had on others, even if his actions didn't start out entirely as altruistic." 'Lars and the Real Girl' showed Craig's ability to take offbeat, almost dangerous characters and make you want to bring them home for dinner, and Ryan stirs the deepest emotions with every performance."
