Goyer goes from The Invisible to The Invisible Man

supermaninvisibleman.jpgI can't help but feel like David Goyer is a bit like me. If I had the opportunity, I would sign up to do a Magneto flick, I would sign up to do The Flash (which he eventually had to pull out of), I wouldn't want to remake Scanners out of respect for Cronenberg but I can see why his love for the film would make him want to do so. He wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins too. Imagine writing a Batman movie where you are given the reigns to totally re-invent the character? The only problem with Goyer is that his directing skills aren't quite there. He can tell a story on a page... but not on film yet. It's ok to make two duds when your just starting out but if you fail on the third attempt... people start asking questions. Variety are reporting that Goyer is writing and will direct a new take on THE INVISIBLE MAN!! Man I love The Invisible Man. Especially Claude Rain's take on the character in the 1930's. If I was in Hollywood, The Invisible Man really would be one of the first projects I would probably try and get made.
Conceived as a sequel to Wells' original tale, the story centers on a British nephew of the original Invisible Man. Once he discovers his uncle's formula for achieving invisibility, he is recruited by British intelligence agency MI5 during WWII.
Don't know why they aren't going the remake route but I guess they should at least be commended for trying something a little different. Love the HG Wells story, don't mess this one up Mr. Goyer!
