Greatest Movie Scenes #32 - THE DEPARTED

It's unofficial Martin Scorsese day here at OWF, as we hope that the legendary director finally gets the recognition he deserves for the great body of work he has produced on screen.

Martin Scorsese day here at Obsessed With Film, as we hope that the legendary director finally gets the recognition he deserves for the great body of work he has produced on screen. In truth, if he does get the award for The Departed then it will be NOT for his best movie (Raging Bull, Goodfellas and Taxi Driver are far superior) but likely for his whole career but together. They are almost writing their past wrongs if they give him the award here. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not trying to say The Departed isn't Oscar worthy. IMO, it's the best film released since Return of the King and certainly the Scorsese film I have found the most entertaining and the one I will re-visit the most. This week's great movie scene is the rooftop sequence towards the end of the movie. There's no-one on this planet that can portray the feeling of impending and claustrophobic terror on film than Scorsese which is highlighted perfectly in this scene, which if you haven't seen, you probably shouldn't watch as it contains some spoilers....
