Guardians Of The Galaxy: 15 Obscure Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

15. Celestials

Knowhere was a fairly prominent location in Guardians of the Galaxy - it was the lawless place in deep space where the Collector's museum of rare and valuable species and items was situated. Those of you familiar with the comics will be aware of its finer details, but when Gamora described it as "the head of an ancient celestial being", do you know exactly what she was referring to? Well, the Celestials, in Marvel comics at least, are essentially a group of godlike cosmic entities who have existed in the Marvel universe since the big bang. They are all thousands of feet in height and are each tasked with a different responsibility, such as judging whether the civilisation of a planet will live or die or surveying and mapping the geography of planets. Their power dwarfs anything we've seen so far from major characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it will be interesting to see if they appear in future movies and even more interesting to see if they are portrayed as being as powerful as their comic book counterparts (note, they did briefly appear in some of the scenes the Collector showed the Guardians of the Galaxy in his museum, but only in holographic flashbacks).
