7. A New Female Guardian Could Join The Team
Whilst James Gunn has talked extensively about there not being too many new characters in the movie, that hasn't stopped him from suggesting that he quite likes the idea of upping the amount of female superheroes in the MCU. During a live Q & A session, Gunn was asked whether or not any new female heroes would appear in the sequel. He wrote:
As Ive said many times its one of my goals to get a higher % of female heroes (and villains) out there. So MAYBE."
This, in turn, resulted in speculations a-plenty, with many fans suggesting that Captain Marvel could win up appearing in Guardians 2. Gunn shot down those rumours, however, outright claiming that Captain Marvel definitely wouldn't make an appearance in the film - which, of course, opens up the possibilities for other female Guardians. Phyla-Vell, perhaps? Mantis? Or how about Moondragon? There are lots of suitable candidates!
