Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Villain Is Probably Not Who You'd Expect

No Thanos in sight?

So far, there's surprisingly little known about Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, aside from the new cast members, the new Guardians team member (Pom Klementieff's Mantis) and the fact that we'll meet Peter Quill's father. Aside from that, all we have is a hint that some of it will be set on Earth, that there won't be any humans and that there won't be any Avengers involved.

According to Joblo, we now know something else: the villain of the piece (and also the probable identity of Elizabeth Debicki's so-far unannounced role). Their "scoop" names Ayesha aka Her aka Kismet aka Paragon as the big bad (as Comic Book Movie broke in March).

In terms of powers, Ayesha is a pretty major deal: she can manipulate cosmic energy to use as a power source and can change matter to her will. She's super strong, super fast, she can fly and she's pretty much immortal: so, not just a push-over then.

If you're paying attention, Ayesha being the bad guy also means something pretty major for another character who has been heavily hinted at already in this franchise: Adam Warlock.

In the comics, Ayesha was created by The Enclave, who sought to create the perfect race to "restart humanity" and made HIM (who would go on to become Warlock) as their first go. He escaped so they made a second - HER - who also escaped and became Ayesha. They should lock their doors better. And just like the real Adam and Eve story, she goes looking for Warlock to start the perfect race.

Now, that's not to say it will happen in Guardians 2, BUT the possibilities are there, given the fact that Warlock's cocoon was spotted among The Collector's now destroyed collection in the first movie. So we could either see it hinted at (if they choose not to have her seeking to create the perfect race and wipe out humanity as her primary goal), or openly teased to set up an Adam Warlock movie.

Does this mean we won't get to see Thanos at all? Well, probably not. After being thwarted for an Infinity Gem by the Guardians you'd think he might reappear to reclaim it, at least in a final act swerve that could see him reign down terror on Xander where it's currently being kept. Maybe that's what sets up the Guardians being drawn into his Infinity War?

And speaking of which Joblo also say that the Guardians will DEFINITELY be teaming up with The Avengers for the Infinity War films, as has long been suspected. Good news: now we get to see all out snark war between Tony Stark, Ant-Man, Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord. It's going to be a hell of a good time.
