Guardians Of The Galaxy 3: 10 Things We Want To See
8. Tension Between Thor And Star-Lord (That Isn't Just Bickering)
The MCU's comedy can often be a real treat, as the writers have wit, the actors are hilarious, and it can allow for some wonderful tension breaks during the always high stakes. With that being said, Marvel has been straying down a worrying path regarding their comedy for some time now, as they often focus on bickering.
Some particularly noticeable uses come from Disney+'s Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where the immature bickering between the titular characters felt forced and distracting from the plot. No one wants to see that happen with Thor and Quill, but there is quite a lot of reason to suspect that it might.
Thor's natural magnetism and Star-Lord's self-consciousness already caused them to clash in Infinity War, which was highly amusing. In the small dose we got, it was funny to see Peter attempt to one-up and belittle the Asgardian, but it could get stale quickly in a full-length run time.
The best way to handle this would be to allow the tension to build. Rather than keeping it at a place of bickering, it could become a significant point of contention for the pair, possibly even leading to a physical altercation. Overall, fans don't want more of the same here.
