Guardians Of The Galaxy 3: 6 Directors Who Could Replace James Gunn

1. Phil Lord & Chris Miller

Known For: 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie

Why They're Right For The Job: In a way, the lukewarm reception to Solo - which Lord & Miller were removed from - has only benefited the directing duo.

Given how safe the movie was, it would have been so much more interesting to see what their version would have looked like, and you have to imagine there's a part of Disney and Lucasfilm that feels the same way.

Fortunately, Guardians 3 is the perfect chance for them to get another shot. They're two of the funniest filmmakers around (and have a Guardians-esque wit), they know how to direct a crowd-pleasing blockbuster, and they don't have a single flop or critical dud to their names. What's not to like?

Chances Of It Happening: Lord, Miller and Disney aren't exactly on the best of terms after the duo were fired midway through the production of Solo, reportedly for unprofessional behaviour.

And even though they're clearly a good fit for this job, that might prove too big a taboo to shake. The risk of having Solo-esque problems on the set of Guardians just isn't a scenario Disney and Marvel will want to entertain. 4/10

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
