The hype machine is in top gear as Marvel Studios prepares to release the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 upon audiences soon enough.

The marketing has done a terrific job emphasising a fun, overblown action movie tone while keeping plot details relatively light, which will be music to the ears of fans sick of trailers giving away every last narrative beat.

Though the first film was driven more by its sheer vibrant personality than a particularly nuanced plot, writer-director James Gunn has promised a more involved story this time, and what's been shown off so far has certainly left fans both excited and full of burning questions.
