Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 11 Huge Questions From The Final Trailer

4. Which Planet Gets Destroyed?

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Questions Ego
Marvel Studios

The galaxy is under threat (and, well, in need of some serious guarding once again), and in those circumstances it's maybe not that surprising to see a planet apparently being destroyed.

However, when one of the new characters to the movie - and a very important one at that - is literally a planet, it becomes more interesting.

You think they wouldn't spoil it here - and James Gunn has said that we won't see Ego in his planetary form in the movie - but could this be Ego exploding? The colour just about fits, and it'd be a hell of a way of referencing the character's comic book roots without having Kurt Russell play an actual planet, while also putting a bow on the Quill fatherhood story.

If it's not Ego, then it could be just a random planet shown for effect, or at an outside bet perhaps the home-world of Ayesha, but they seem less likely and less interesting.
