Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know
6. The New Cast Members Are Awesome
"Pom Klementieff is a standout as Mantis, but then so is Debicki as Ayesha, and Kurt Russell is as great as you’d hope as Star-Lord’s father." - IGN
"The Guardians get into some serious trouble pinching some energy sources from a certain golden empress named Ayesha, very amusingly played by Elizabeth Debicki...Pom Clementieff is very entertaining in the role of Mantis." - The Guardian
"Klementieff is an excellent addition to the team, and fans will no doubt welcome Mantis’ distinct brand of kooky charm with open arms." - Collider
"Pom Klementieff shines as Drax's delightfully odd new buddy, Mantis." - Digital Spy
Whatever gripes you might have with the MCU as a whole, it almost always nails its casting, and in that regard, chalk Guardians Vol. 2 up as another rousing success.
Pom Klementieff was especially singled out for her work as Mantis, while Elizabeth Debicki's Ayesha and, of course, Kurt Russell's Ego were also squarely praised.
It remains to be seen how many of the new additions might be hanging around for the long haul, but it sounds like these canny casting choices have been well-exploited for the most part.
