Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: 35 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

3. Post-Credits #3: Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock
Marvel Comics

Despite seeing her drone army defeated once more, Ayesha bucks the trend of Marvel villains being killed off by surviving to lick her wounds.

In her mid-credits sequence, it is revealed that the Sovereign council are annoyed at her for wasting resources attempting to get revenge on the Guardians. She's obviously dejected, but she has a plan, revealing that she's created her own genetically pure powerful superman to take on the Guardians, who she calls Adam.

For the uninitiated, that's confirmation of Adam Warlock.

This ties in to the fact that both Ayesha (otherwise known as Her, Paragon or Kismet in the comics) and Warlock (first called Him) were created by The Enclave as attempts to make perfect humanoids. In the comics, Ayesha is actually made as a second attempt when Him rejects his creators and travels through space.

Clearly, Gunn has repurposed his origin story, making him a creation of Ayesha, but the fundaments remain the same. And we can all start to get excited about the possibility of seeing Warlock in Infinity War and Guardians Vol 3.
