Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Review: 10 Best Moments

7. The Abilisk Fight

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Drax Abilisk
Marvel Studios

The film opens with the Guardians taking on the inter-dimensional monster known as the Abilisk, in order to protect some batteries for the Sovereigns.

The scene is set to Electric Light Orchestra's "Mr. Blue Sky", as Groot dances along in the foreground, oblivious to the fact that his pals are getting trounced by the Abilisk in the background. Eventually, Gamora makes short work of the monster by slicing its stomach open and retrieving a goo-soaked Drax, who was attempting to slice it open from the inside (for some reason).

Yes, it's totally self-indulgent, but it's also a terrific re-introduction to these characters, cementing how they're now a well-oiled machine, while making good on taking full advantage of Groot's ridiculous cuteness.
