Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

4. Adam Warlock Is Totally Wasted
Unquestionably one of the most anticipated elements of Vol. 3 is the MCU debut of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), after his appearance was first teased during the credits of the previous film some six years ago.
So it's a bit of a shame that Warlock ends up feeling like something of an afterthought in this movie. Will Poulter gives a perfectly solid performance in the role, but despite showing up early in the story, Warlock's role is minimal throughout and, honestly, ultimately quite throwaway.
It wouldn't take much re-writing at all to remove Warlock from the film completely, while comic book fans are likely to be underwhelmed by his overall presentation.
Though noted to be one of the most powerful entities in the universe of the Marvel comics, here he's been given a noticeable nerf and also turned into a more humourous comic relief character.
Even accepting that we're meeting Warlock in a relatively immature stage of his life, he's pretty much a one-note man-baby archetype for the entirety of his screen time, and given how long fans have had to wait to finally see him on-screen, it can't help but feel disappointing.
