Groot was without a doubt the biggest success story to come from Volume 1. Most comics fans didn't know the sentient tree existed prior to the release of the original film in 2014. Fast forward two years and action figures and POP Funko's can be found almost anywhere and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when he apparently sacrificed himself to save the team.

Fortunately, he survived and in a post credits sequence was revealed to be alive and well albeit in a plant pot. In a stroke of genius, Gunn and Marvel have decided to not have him reach full maturity by the beginning of Volume 2, instead opting for a smaller, younger Groot.

In the opening moments of the footage, Yondu and Rocket ask tiny Groot to steal the famed mohawk that allows Yondu to mentally control his arrows. Unable to understand any forms of language yet, a montage ensues seeing Groot collect everything from Yondu's underwear to a cybernetic eye - a call back to the first movie.

“That’s my underwear!” Yondu screams.

Eventually he frees his comrades and despite his diminutive size, manages to take out a Ravager on his lonesome. This had the audience in hysterics and confirmed that Groot will once again be the MVP of Guardians Volume 2.

And in that cute little costume of his, expect to see him everywhere closer to release.
