Maybe it's because I was holding out for
Rachel McAdams for the role but the casting of
Gwyneth Paltrow in
Iron Man does nothing for me. She's talented, no doubt, but I don't know if I can see the passion in her to play the feisty red-haired personal assistant Virginia "Pepper" Potts. One thing that is quite evident about the casting of Iron Man is that they have gone for older and established actors rather than something like
Fantastic Four. It's very clear this is going to be an "adult" superhero flick, in the same way
Daredevil was. So we have
Jon Favreau directing
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man,
Terence Howard as Rhodes and now Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. All big names, but I can't help but be a little disappointed we won't get to see the chemsitry that McAdams and Downey Jr. could have had. source -
