3. Jinx - Die Another Day (2002)
Surprisingly enough, I'm a big fan of
Die Another Day, arguably one of the most divisive Bond films, largely due to its sci-fi-influenced plot and the largely bonkers action - and the main reason for my extreme enjoyment of this movie is the absolute scene-stealing performance of Halle Berry as NSA agent Jinx Johnson. Jinx is clearly one of the best Bond girls ever as she's more than capable of handling a situation on her own and actually works perfectly well on her own without Bond's assistance. Berry is clearly having a blast here in the role as she kicks, punches and slinks her way through the film, a delightful presence that elevates the film from standard subfare into a charming, bonkers film. Berry's performance is so spirited that her sections of the film are among the best - her finale smackdown with Rosamund Pike's icy Miranda Frost is a fun, adrenaline-fuelled counterpoint to the rather drab, dull fight between Bond and villain Gustav Graves and the scenes at the Cuban cosmetic surgery clinic are relentlessly kickass on Berry's part. Nobody really does it better.
