Halloween Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs
3. John Carpenter's AWESOME New Musical Score
To the surprise of just about nobody, John Carpenter's score for this movie is a thing of sublime beauty.
Teaming up with his son Cody and Daniel Davies, Carpenter has created a new score obviously indebted to his iconic original, but also punchy and distinctive in its own right.
Many of the leitmotifs are of course near-identical, though some jazzy flourishes make them feel fresh all the same, alongside a number of new synthy compositions created from scratch for this movie.
In case you weren't sure, Carpenter's definitely still got it, and his wonderful music lends the film so much of its ominous atmosphere.
