1. The Monster Book Of Monsters
You might remember this as the book that tried to kill Harry when he didn't close it correctly in The Prisoner Of Azkaban. Such a thing marks the book idea out as incredibly inventive already, even if some Slytherins didn't seem to appreciate Hagrid's little joke. But still, if that was how insane the book's cover was, I'd love to see what's inside. Oh, I'm sure it's still probably a dry textbook, but you can't tell me that there wouldn't be some awesome things inside. After all, though you should never judge a book by it's cover, I'm really hoping I could with this one. As far as I'm concerned, this book appears to be the more metal, insane version of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them - gloriously madcap and probably slightly more dangerous. All this begs the question - why adapt Fantastic Beasts ahead of it? It might be a matter of individual choice, but I think pursuing monsters might be a tad more awesome than pursuing fantastic beasts in the same logical way that while ham is nice, it's hardly bacon. Call me a liar, but there just appears to be something more insanely awesome to a book that attempts to eat you when you open it. So think about this in movie form - pursuing monsters is inherently a risky pursuit, so following around book author Edwardus Lima as he attempts to catalogue dangerous creatures such as Hippogriffs, Valcores and Sphinxes would've been something brilliant, if just because it's completely insane. Sadly, with the very similar - but possibly dialled back - Fantastic Beasts in the pipeline, I think this'll get shoved by the wayside. Although, they could potentially include some of the creatures from this in its sister tome. A man can dream, after all.
So that's what I think. What do you think? Can you think of any more books? Feel free to comment!
