Harry Potter: 10 Most Shocking Reveals From Pottermore

2. Queen Victoria Was Good Friends With A Witch

Taking over from the Wizard Council as Britain's governing body, The Ministry of Magic was established way back in 1707. With Pottermore, JK Rowling was able to reveal the identities of all of the Ministers for Magic since the Ministry€™s inception, and some were more successful than others in their post. From the shortest serving Minister in history Basil Flack (who lasted only two months and was forced to resign after he was unable to stop the Goblins from joining forces with the Werewolves) to the well-liked Wilhemina Tuft, who presided over a decade-long period of peace but died in office after an allergic reaction to a piece of Alihosty-flavoured fudge. One of the most curious revelations however is that of Evangeline Orpington, who was Minister from 1849 to 1855 and was a good friend of the most powerful Muggle woman in the world at the time, Queen Victoria of England. Apparently, Victoria had no idea that Orpington was a witch, let alone the head witch in the country.
