Harry Potter: 10 Movie Scenes That Are Completely Different In The Books

1. Harry Vs. Voldemort (The Deathly Hallows)

Goblet Of Fire Angry Dumbledore

In The Book: Harry faces off against Voldemort in the Great Hall, while everyone in his life watches on from the sidelines as he explains the Elder Wand's true allegiance to Voldemort.

In The Film: Harry and Voldemort do battle in the courtyard, and Voldemort dissolves into nothing.

Summary: We end on a resounding win for the books. The whole point of book Voldemort's death is that he dies a man: "Tom Riddle hit the floor with a mundane finality." He was never anything special. Not only does the film version dismiss this entirely, it also means there is no body, which in turn means that there must still be witches and wizards across the country who doubt Harry's victory.

Voldemort's book death is finite. Harry explains what he has learned over the course of seven books and silences his doubters, where as the film scene is confusing, unsatisfactory, and an insult to book readers.
