Harry Potter: 10 Of The Best Movie Tracks

8. The Ministry of Magic - Nicholas Hooper

Aministry of magic

The Ministry of Magic is an amusing little tune from the soundtrack of 'The Order of the Phoenix' that will no doubt force one's mind€™s eye to see the cheeky face of Mark Williams clowning around in the London Underground. That is until the track takes a slightly sinister turn towards the middle hinting at the corruption and eventual fatalities that will take place because of this organisation. It is clever how Hooper takes us on a journey through the plot arc of the Ministry itself during this track, following up the sinister turn with a majestic melody to accompany the wonder of seeing the incredible set that has been designed for Fudge and his cohorts. It fits subtly into the background of the film whilst somehow lodging itself in your memory upon re-listening, a sure sign of a good soundtrack.

Whilst not writing articles for WhatCulture! Stephen can usually be found livin' it up in the city or livin' it down on the couch in front of one of many DVDs. You can tell how many of his friends are in Edinburgh at any given time by measuring how prolific he is on this site.
