Harry Potter: 10 Ways The Muggle World Would Inevitably Discover Wizards

10. Documents

Did you ever buy a newspaper or magazine? What did you do with it when you were finished? Passed it on to someone else, or threw it in the trash bin? But what if you were a wizard, and the paper in question was The Daily Prophet? What if a Muggle gets a hold of it? What about wizard books, photographs and paintings? The images in them move, so they are magical items and therefore should not be allowed to fall into Muggle hands, lest the magical world be exposed. But is there anyone who has never mislaid a book, or lost a photo? The Half-Blood Prince film showed that Muggles can see the pictures moving on the cover of the Prophet. And the montages presented in Order of the Phoenix indicate that the stories can update. The Half-Blood Prince book features a painting of an ugly man who serves as messenger between the Ministry of Magic and the British Prime Minister. So, how does the Ministry keep such items out of the hands of Muggles? Is there some spell that freezes or wipes magical documents if anyone but a wizard is handling them?
