Harry Potter: Every Wizarding World Movie Ranked Worst To Best

9. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

There are lots of things wrong with The Crimes Of Grindelwald and there's a rather unfortunate suggestion in all of them that JK Rowling is following a little too closely in the footsteps of George Lucas when it comes to retrospectively tinkering with her lore. In this sequel, she's changed family trees, timelines and the logic of her own franchise in the interest of fan-bait and manipulated story-telling and it will annoy a LOT of people.

The twist, in particular, is difficult to take and it's likely to be talked about for a long time.

All of that aside, the second Fantastic Beasts movie is still beautiful and it's a very welcome return to the Wizarding World, which is built with the same adoring love as ever. There are also great performances - particularly from Jude Law as Dumbledore - a good story (even if it is needlessly complex) and some stunning effects.

Ultimately, the film works far better if you spoil it for yourself before you see it, which is a catastrophic revelation for the quality of the writing, but it's hard not to argue for doing it.
