Harry Potter New TV Show: 25 Castings That Must Happen
5. David Tennant As Sirius Black
Much like Bill Nighy, David Tennant is a masterful actor who was underused in the films. He was pretty good as Barty Crouch Jr, but it was a very small role.
Thankfully, there's a larger role which he'd be perfect for in the TV reboot, and that's Sirius Black, Harry Potter's tough but loving godfather, played (extremely well) by Gary Oldman on the big screen.
A notably versatile performer, Tennant is one of those actors with the ability to slip into pretty much any role. He can be a charismatic, lovable hero (like the Tenth Doctor) but has a long track record of playing darker characters as well - just watch his terrifying villainous performances in things like Jessica Jones, Des, and Bad Samaritan.
Tennant would definitely be able to pull off the mixture of warmth, fury, and emotional trauma that made Sirius Black one of the best characters in both the books and the films, and it'd give Tennant the great Harry Potter role he's always deserved.
