There are plenty of parallels between Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They’re both fantastical coming-of-age stories held together by a dynamic trio who are remarkably similar, and this is particularly obvious when comparing the two leading ladies: Hermione Granger and Willow Rosenberg.
Both of these characters are renowned for their intellectual abilities. They outperform their classmates by engaging with their studies, reading excessively, and casting powerful spells. But they also struggle with their own insecurities, particularly when it comes to feeling confident in the realm of adolescent romance.
Having said that, Hermione is the more stable of the two characters. She stays calm under pressure and rarely drops her moral compass. Willow – despite her invaluable contributions – has a much darker character arc, especially in the sixth season when she seeks revenge by using dark magic.
