Harry Potter: The Biggest Mistake Each Wizarding World Film Has Made

3. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 And 2: Being Two Films

Harry Potter Goblet Of Fire

These final two parts of the Harry Potter series are combined into one here, since the same mistake applies to both: the final book should've been one three-hour film.

This is Harry Potter; no-one would've complained too much about the length and it wouldn't have hurt the box office results.

Both Deathly Hallows parts are among the franchise's best. The first one is good and the second one is an absolutely epic, ridiculously satisfying finale that wraps everything up beautifully and is very, very good indeed, but both films suffered from pacing issues thanks to the decision to split the story in two.

Part 1 is basically two hours of build-up which is quite slow at times; this further makes one confused about the split, since there's plenty that could've been cut. As for Part 2, although it mostly works, it is still basically a two-hour third act. This could definitely have been fit into one, very long movie.

One further wishes the studio hadn't done this due to the bad influence it had on other franchises - namely The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga and Divergent. They all split the adaptation of the final book in their respective series in two and it didn't go too well for any of them, especially Divergent.
