Despite taking Harry in and raising him alongside their son Dudley, Vernon and Petunia Dursley made his life hell. He was forced to sleep in a cupboard under the stairs and was treated more like a servant than a nephew. He was unaware of his magical abilities until he turned 11 when he was visited by a half-giant. This was the start of a new life for Harry Potter.
