McGonagall was a Scottish half-blood witch. Her birth was both a blessing and a curse to her parents. Her mother had given up magic for the love of her husband, however it was hard to hide Minerva's true identify. After confessing her and her daughter's magical abilities, the two parents remained together, however it was never to be the same again.
After joining Hogwarts as a student, Minerva was quickly recognised as an extremely talented student. She went on to achieve fantastic grades, and eventually became a professor herself.
