Hogwarts castle is a place of wonder. It's a dream-like, fantastical setting full of danger and beauty. But as wonderful as the castle may be from a visual perspective, it's the characters that make it come to life.
When Harry first arrives at Hogwarts, he's introduced to his teachers during his opening week as a student. Though there are plenty of lovely staff members – such as Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, and Hagrid – other teachers are much more severe. Indeed, Professor Snape hates Harry from the moment he lays eyes on him.
There are also plenty of additional teachers who make their entrances later on in the series. In The Prisoner of Azkaban, for instance, Harry starts several new subjects. And it's also fun to experience a different Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher every year.
J.K. Rowling added lots of detail to the teachers who populate her world, and as such, there's plenty of information about these characters. Even the most devoted Harry Potter fan would struggle to know everything.
