Neville finally got the chance to prove himself in the Battle of Hogwarts - he stood up to Voldemort, inspired hope in his peers, and was able to summon the sword of Gryffindor to slay Nagini. Without Neville, it's possible that the battle may have been lost, causing a more hellish world to come to fruition than the one we saw in the book and films.

Following the war Neville worked as an auror for some time, but ultimately gained a teaching job in the Herbology department at Hogwarts under professor Sprout. Students were impressed by his Dumbledore's army coin which he and other members carried as a badge of honour.

Neville kept in touch with his friends and married his former classmate, Hannah Abbott, who was the landlady at the Leaky Cauldron, and then the matron at Hogwarts.
