Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen - 8 Things It Must Do Differently From Del Toro's Films

6. Hellboy's Relationship With Liz

While this relationship did work for del Toro's series, we're hoping that Marshall scraps the romance this time around.

In the comics, Hellboy has always been more of a sibling-like figure for Liz, and was the person who convinced her to initially join the Bureau. They were close, yes, but never the item that the 2004 and 2008 films would have you believe.

If Liz is back for another film (and we do hope that she is), then it would be great to see this dynamic play out onscreen, especially if we got to see her temperamental relationship with the B.P.R.D. as well. Having resigned from the Bureau around twelve times Liz has always struggled to acclimatise to life as a paranormal investigator, largely on account of her pyrokinetic abilities. If we do get to see the Bureau, however, don't be surprised if she's treated much, much differently than she was in the earlier films.
