Hiring these guys on Friday the 13th makes no sense at all

Platinum Dunes need new writers to pump blood back into Jason, and who do they go for? The guys that brought us the franchise killer Freddy vs. Jason. Superb choice people, really.

Shock Till You Drop are reporting that they are fast tracking their reboot of Friday the 13th so that it can beat the June strike date. Ok, that's cool so far. I can understand that they see money in this thing after the opening of Halloween a few weeks back, that I have no problem with but it's the new writers they have hired that concerns me. They are Damien Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the script for Freddy vs. Jason four years ago. Yes that film with the truly awful story, where they somehow made a movie about two Iconic horror characters going one-on-one, extremely uninteresting. The movie four years ago that was been tipped to be the one that would resurrect both dead franchises, but that never happened did it? In the end, it almost felt like a bookend film and one that was an ending to the series more than a new beginning. I mean, where can you go once these two horror characters have fought on screen? Well, there's only one place you can go of course, and that's back to the beginning for a reboot. So there you go, they have gone for these two guys again for their Friday the 13th story. A total desperation move and they are no doubt putting a hack job together for the script right now. No word at this point on who will be directing the picture, but the last we heard The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning helmer Jonathan Liebesman was on board, which again is a choice which excites me little.
