Hocus Pocus 2 Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

2. The Solid Supporting Cast

Though the movie is all about the Sandersons, Hocus Pocus 2 is at least stocked with a solidly enthusiastic supporting cast.

In addition to Hannah Waddingham's all-too-brief role, Doug Jones is back as the zombie Billy Butcherson and slinks perfectly back into character, even if he isn't given all that much to do. It's just fun to see him goofing around in a ridiculous getup again, honestly.

Elsewhere Tony Hale hams it up at as Jefry Traske, the Mayor of Salem and Cassie's father, who is the descendant of a reverend who banished the Sandersons from Salem centuries prior.

And the ever-funny Sam Richardson is also a hoot as Gilbert, the owner of the Sandersons' former home, now a tacky Salem magic shop.

While these talented performers aren't always served by the so-so script, there is at least an infectious quality to the clear fun they had making the movie.
