Home Alone: 10 Awesome Images You've Never Seen

9. The House That Mac Built

You recognise this house, right? Of course you do. It's the 14-room brick Georgian - located in Winnetka, Illinois - that Kevin McCallister so deftly defends from the Wet Bandits in the first Home Alone movie. You'll remember it best blanketed in snow, however, the above shot is taken from an actual real-estate listing; this iconic home was put up for sale in 2001 by its owners John and Cynthia Abendshien for a fairly whopping $2.4 million dollars. They told the Chicago Tribune that they bought the red-brick Georgian in 1988 for $875k and hoped that the house's notoriety - thanks to the siege of the wet bandits - would help them to shift it. The place finally did change hands in may 2012 but at quite a bit below the asking price; $1.58 mil. I guess the eventual buyers weren't as interested in the property's defensive capabilities as the Abendshiens would have hoped.
