20 Horror Movies You Should Watch Totally BLIND
12. One Cut of the Dead
One Cut of the Dead is, perhaps more than any other film on this list, one whose first viewing experience is unlike any other - at least if you can go in knowing as little as possible.
This devilishly clever 2017 horror-comedy revolves around the cast and crew of a zombie film who seemingly find themselves attacked by zombies for real - but oh, there's so, so much more to it than that.
Even hinting at the hilarious, genre-savvy tricks up filmmaker Shin'ichirÅ Ueda's sleeve would be criminal, because when Ueda lifts the lid on his ingenious central conceit at a certain point, it's a brilliantly satisfying moment of realisation for the audience.
We'll just say that Ueda plays with both style and genre tropes in some fiendishly clever ways, all while serving up a snappy love letter to DIY low-budget filmmaking itself.
One Cut of the Dead also holds the unique distinction of being the only found footage film to hold a "perfect" rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fancy that.
