Whats that dim light, sparkling through the gloomy darkness? Why, that almost looks like a ray of hope! Even as Freddy quickly descends into clownery, there are still glimpses of the original that push their way through the folderol. This simple piece of dialogue takes Freddy back not to his original terrifying glory, but at least feels closer to how he was in Nightmare 2. Its an ominous threat, ripe with an all-consuming feeling of dread. It brings his intentions back to the indiscriminate killing of children, rather then a snappy one-liner. But, it was only a taste of things to come, once Wes Craven got back in the game.
