How Odin Lost His Eye

3. The God Of War

The God of War video game series is nothing short of stunning. And while Kratos is so often the focal point and draw-in point of the franchise for gamers, one other fun element of the 2018 God of War release is the presence of Odin.

Despite being mentioned and seen in picture form, Odin never actually turns up in the game - yet his story is one that still manages to be told.

With the traditional look associated with Odin - complete with a missing eye - the God of War spin on the character so nearly lost both of his eyes.

As the story goes with this version of the character, it was actually Mimir who came to Odin this time out. Bringing his Mystic Well of Knowledge along with him, Mimir encourages Odin to feast on the well's contents. In this instance, the well is laced with a ludicrous number of magic mushrooms.

Even though he may be a god, that didn't stop Odin trippin' out in a major way. And by major way, that means that the visions he saw gave him the urge to pull out both of his eyes. Mimir actually stepped in to stop Odin after he'd yanked out one eye, but this was all part of a plan from Mimir to have Odin be under his control.

By the time all was said and done though, Odin would eventually turn the tables - removing one of Mimir's eyes and torturing him.
