How The Avengers: Endgame Ending Changed The Comics

5. The Asgardians Of The Galaxy Doesn't Include Thor In The Comics

Realising that Chris Hemsworth's Odinson still has plenty of fuel left in the tank, Endgame's ending repositions the Asgardian with the Guardians of the Galaxy. They're off to search for Gamora it seems, and Thor is there to lead the way. (As long as Star-Lord doesn't have anything to say about it.)

Although Thor is now very much a member of the Guardians, fans shouldn't expect the third entry in the series to be retitled Asgardians of the Galaxy. He is, after all, the only Asgardian, and he doesn't even feature in the team of the same name in the comics.

The actual Asgardians of the Galaxy were first unveiled in 2018, and featured a lineup comprised solely of Asgardians. Angela, Thor's sister, leads the group, while the likes of Valkyrie, Thunderstrike and the Executioner round out its line-up.

More recently, the actual Guardians of the Galaxy comic featured Beta Ray Bill as a fully fledged member of the team. It's likely to be pure coincidence though, seeing as how Endgame had wrapped productions months before either comic hit the stands.
