In 2012, Roland Emmerich is attempting to destroy the world again!

His aliens in INDEPENDENCE DAY couldn't do it. The evil Egyptians from millions of light years away in another universe were unsuccessful in STARGATE. Not the big monster he re-created for GODZILLA. Not even the threat of another ice age in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. But in 2012, the year that the Mayans said we would all perish, maybe Emmerich might finally destroys us all. Variety say that a script written by Emmerich and his collaborator on his latest movie 10,000 B.C. (released on 7th March) is been shipped around studio's after several execs were impressed with his latest but undisclosed "apocalyptic" idea, and nearly all of them are meeting with Emmerich TODAY to hear his budget and creative inspirations. Whoever decides to pull the trigger on the movie, will have a Summer 2009 ORIGINAL tentpole to unleash among us. Remember THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and INDEPENDENCE DAY made no less than $1.3 BILLION combined, so it's no surprise there is a bidding war over this. Wonder what "end of the world scenario" Emmerich has cooked up this time.
