The Inbetweeners Movie 2: First Set Image Released

Theinbetweeners2 We've already learned in the past week or so that Jay, Will, Neil and Simon will be heading Down Under for the upcoming sequel to the surprisingly mega-bucks making Inbetweeners movie, and today has seen the release of the first set picture. Predictably, the image, which features all four of the main cast, doesn't give much away, unless water parks are going to be really important to the plot in some way. After their cringe-worthy exploits in Malia in the 2011 original - following the trend of taking characters from a sitcom abroad for new japes set by almost every British TV show ever to get a big screen adaptation - the foursome now head to Australia, presumably still on the trail of profound self-realisation and as much sex as their horribly awkward social skills allow. Earlier in the week, the show's creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris had confirmed the setting for the sequel, without giving too much away: Though they were cautious not to divulge too much information in these early stages of filming, the duo said via a statement on the show's Facebook page:
€œWe can€™t say too much as we don€™t want to spoil the jokes for you but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos and Australians and possibly koalas. €œOh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon, providing they€™re let into the country. "Thanks so much for all your support, we€™re hoping to deliver a film that you€™ll enjoy even more than the last one.€
So, they obviously are all let in the country then, given the release of the image. One thing that the image does confirm is the specific area of Australia that the boys will end up in. The water-park featured in the full image below is Wet 'n' Wild Waterpark on the Gold Coast (specifically Oxenford,) which is right next to the Outback - presumably allowing for some Wolf Creek style paranoia, and (if we had to put a bet on it) a masturbating kangaroo joke or two. Inbetweeners 2 Based on the E4 sitcom which ran for three seasons, ending in 2010, the film version again stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison as the awkward quad of college leavers. Predecessor The Inbetweeners Movie was a commercial success two years ago, and took £45 million at the box office to become the most successful British comedy film of all time.
