Indiana Jones 5: Everything We Know So Far
4. It Won't Be The Final Indiana Jones Movie
Those who believe the franchise should have called it a day after Last Crusade won't be pleased to hear this, but Indiana Jones 5 is not the final chapter.
That's according to Disney chief Bob Iger, who strongly hinted to The Hollywood Reporter that plans are in place to have Doctor Jones pass on the touch to a younger whip-cracking adventurer.
"We [got] Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film. But then what’s the direction? I’ve had discussions about what the direction is, [but] I don’t want to get into it. I don’t think it reaches the scale of the universe of Star Wars, but I see making more. It won’t be just a one-off."
Passing on the touch is a concept that was tabled in sickeningly-obvious fashion by Crystal Skull, with Indy's long lost son Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) being measured up for the fedora in practically every scene.
That CGI monkey sequence alone was probably enough to deny LaBeouf the keys to the kingdom, but it remains to be seen whether Indy Jr will feature in the sequel.
