1. Some Choices Will Divide Fans

No spoilers here of course, but while The Dial of Destiny shouldn't be nearly as objectionable as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, there are still sure to be elements of the narrative that split the fanbase down the middle.

First and foremost, it offers up a relatively dour, depressing presentation of Indiana Jones the human being when the story starts out - a man who has undergone considerable hardship since the end of the last movie.

In a franchise not exactly known for deep or contemplative character development, some may feel that such an approach is inappropriate, and that at times the realities of Indy's life as presented perhaps end up feeling a bit too real for their own good.

There's also one later aspect of Indy's adventure which takes a bold swing that, while entertaining, will absolutely not work for everyone - especially those who found aliens a bridge too far in the last movie.

If you're able to accept these undeniably significant gripes, though, there is a decent, moderately enjoyable time to be had. And so, here's what The Dial of Destiny gets right...
