Ever since The Last Crusade, Lucas had been trying to get a fourth film dealing with aliens off the ground and, after many, many drafts, Spielberg relented.

Thus the world got to visit The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

And immediately wanted to leave; the film is a notorious object of fan ire, even coining a new term for pushing an idea too far - nuking the fridge.
