Infinite Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

3. The Criminally Wasted Supporting Cast

It's tough to think of a film in recent memory which has squandered its appealing cast as thoroughly as Infinite. Aside from Ejiofor's chops-licking villain, almost every other supporting player is handed a bland, uninteresting character with nothing of substance to sink their teeth into.

Toby Jones shows up for a handful of brief early scenes audiences are sure to forget as soon as they're over, while Jason Mantzoukas is clearly game for a fun time as the eyeliner-wearing, plot-pivotal character the Artisan, the script leaves him scrambling to render the character charming.

Sophie Cookson is meanwhile stranded with the cardboard female lead, Nora, Rupert Friend shows up for literally seconds in a brief flashback sequence, and perhaps most strangely of all, Dylan O'Brien is confined to a mere extended cameo that goes nowhere interesting.

One suspects the film may have been cut down extensively in post-production, which would explain why so many skilled actors show up for literally minutes of screen time, if that.
