Insidious: The Last Key - 2 Ups & 7 Downs

6. The Painfully Bad Comic Relief

Because you don't want people to get too scared, The Last Key is filled with plenty of humour by way of the series' comic relief sidekicks Specs (series creator Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson).

While it was mostly tolerable in the prior movies, here their one-liners and mugging reaches an unbearably cringe-worthy apex.

It doesn't help that most of the "laughs" in the second half of the film revolve around them creepily leering at Elise's two attractive young nieces (Spencer Locke and Caitlin Gerard). It's more offputting than funny, and even in their more harmless moments, the pair have never been more irritating.
