Interstellar: 10 Titbits That Will Get You Even More Excited

10. The First Hour Takes Place On Earth

When the running time of your film clocks in at just under three hours, you can afford to introduce your characters and set up your story at a leisurely pace, and that€™s just what Chris Nolan has chosen to do in his latest effort. Thus far, the vast majority of the footage we€™ve been allowed to see has taken place on Earth and centred on Cooper, Interstellar€™s protagonist played by Matthew McConaughey. In that the basic plot follows Cooper as he leads a crew into space to look for a new home for the doomed inhabitants of our planet, it€™s not venturing too far into spoiler territory to reveal that we€™ll be spending a good chunk of time on our own planet before heading into the unknown. As numerous trailers and TV spots have revealed, in Interstellar, the Earth as we know it is under threat from a catastrophic Dust Bowl scenario reminiscent of the Steinbeck novels set during The Great Depression €“ a period in which over-farming and droughts crippled agriculture and destroyed many lives. This concept will be taken to the extreme, and Nolan has confirmed that you€™ll have to wait at least an hour for those IMAX intergalactic money shots.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
