Irish sitcom actor to play lead villain in GULLIVER'S TRAVELS

Up and coming Irish comic actor Chris O'Dowd, one of the stars of the British sitcom The I.T. Crowd has landed a huge Hollywood role; he is to play the lead villain in the 20th Century Fox tentpole release Gulliver's Travels starring Jack Black, Emily Blunt, Jason Segal and Catherine Tate. chris-odwd The actor announced the news himself on BBC's Something for the Weekend which was spotted by /film. He will play Edward, the film's main villain and a character who is engaged to Emily Blunt, who I believe is also the love interest of Jack Black's Gulliver. The character has been invented for the film and is not part of Jonathan Swift's early 18th century novel. O'Dowd will soon be seen making his big transition to film as he has roles in Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, The Boat That Rocked and Hippie Hippie Shake which are all set to hit the U.K. screens soon.
