Iron Man 3: 10 Moments We Probably Won't Get To See

2. Mind-Controlled Killer

crossing Oh, the 90s... how they loved to €œreinvent€ classic superheroes for modern audiences, frequently in the dumbest possible ways. Superman died and was replaced by four Supermen, Batman€™s back was broken and he gave the cape and cowl over to a psychopath who decided to armor himself up to the extreme, Captain America found out he was dying and needed to wear a suit of armor, Spider-Man was replaced by his clone who everyone thought was the real Spider-Man but was really a clone, Ghost Rider ran around in a bright orange costume and€ well, you get the idea. Not to be outdone, Iron Man also decided to get with the times in a now-infamous crossover called The Crossing. His own personal extreme make-over began with a new suit of armor that looked like the classic one, except it had massive gauntlets and rivets on the face. He became even more of a dick than usual, constantly undermining Force Works€™ leader, the Scarlet Witch, and then at Avengers Mansion when the team was having a big reunion, he murdered both the female Yellowjacket (a one-time Avenger) and the Avengers€™ resident nanny, Marilla. To be even more of a dick, Tony framed Hawkeye for these murders and sent Force Works to bring him in, including with the team his own personal hitwoman in the form of Cybermancer. When Force Works€™ public relations manager discovered he was up to something nasty, he killed her, too. He also cleaned out the bank account of the Wasp and almost killed her, and tried to kill all of the Avengers. What was the deal? Well, Tony was being manipulated by Kang, a time-traveling warlord and one of the Avengers€™ worst enemies. And the kicker? Not only was Tony being manipulated by Kang, but he€™d been Kang€™s spy on the Avengers since day one! In the end, Tony redeemed himself€ kind of. He sacrificed his own life to defeat Kang. Years later, the Avengers Forever limited series would retcon all this. Likelihood: Tony being manipulated is one thing, and that€™s always a possibility in any movie. We already saw Hawkeye manipulated in The Avengers. But being a thrall of Kang since the very beginning? No way. But an evil Tony could be another story...
