Iron Man 3: 10 Reasons Tony Stark Is A Terrible Hero

4. He Doesn€™t Share His Arc Reactor

Iron Man 4 It isn€™t cost effective. Stark industries haven€™t had a breakthrough in 30 years. It was only made to shut the hippies up, after all. Arc reactor technology appears to have reached its maximum potential. Luckily Tony Stark created a miniaturised one in a cave out of a box of scraps that keeps him alive and powers his Iron Man suit. So what does he do with this new technology? Nothing. The arc reactor€™s only use is for Stark€™s personal use. Despite the fact that the best scientific minds in his own company claiming the technology is impossible, Stark managed to make something that could keep him alive €œfor fifty lifetimes€ small enough to store it in his chest. Then again, how many real world applications can there really be for an almost perpetual source of energy that€™s the size of a baseball? Once Stark replaces his old model for a new one (perhaps considering that fifty lifetimes just isn€™t enough) he gives Pepper the old model and tells her to destroy it. It€™s not like he€™s going to use it later or it has any other potential uses anyway. Luckily Pepper does find a use for the miniaturised arc reactor, turning it into a plaque (there€™s that ego again).
